Snow Style Suggestions

If I know anything about North Carolinians, it's that we don't know how to deal with snow. It's like this foreign substance to most of us, only having to put up with it a few days out of the year. This year, we received an amount of snow I had never witnessed before. A snowstorm of hail, ice, and big fat snowflakes fell upon us. And it was surprisingly fantastic.
It got me thinking about what people wear in places where snow is just an average Tuesday. How do these people try a hand a fashion? So, here's my take on some things. Let's just say that I didn't hold back either (I apologize in advance).
The Long Puffer:

Shall we begin with my worst enemy? I say we shall. How do I feel about the long puffer? Well, I hate it. I don't like them; I don't know why. I take that back; I do know why. They remind me of something a mother would wear to pick up her child from dance class and not in a cool, yoga-pant way. More of in a Melissa Ziegler from Dance Moms way. Sorry.
Cardigans:

Switching tones, these are great. Delectable even. Now, I'm not trying to be a Folklore girl and obsess over cardigans, but I have to say I'm a fan. They almost always make an outfit more classy as it pulls everything together in a knit and neat way. Here's one I particularly enjoy from Urban Outfitters
Leather Jackets:

I can't decide. Sometimes, they look cool and mysterious, sleek and intriguing. Other times, I'm sure they look like something you would've gotten from Shein, paired with dreaded mom jeans and Air Force Ones. It all comes down to how you style it and when you wear it. For example, I have concluded that I prefer a leather jacket at night, darkening an outfit. This is much better than in broad daylight; heaven forbid the jacket to be accompanied by some tiny sunglasses.
Turtleneck Sweaters:

Talk about classic; I don't think you could ever go wrong with a nice turtleneck. Now, I'm not encouraging you to layer a gold chain with one, but you do what you want. I would advise investing in a nice fitting turtleneck sweater, one of black, white, or tan, that you know will go with plenty of outfits. Or, if you're feeling crazy, get a crazy patterned turtleneck sweater. These are great layered underneath a SHORT puffer or puffer vest.
Colorful Puffers:

Speaking of crazy and colorful, this is a style of puffer that I do support. Trust me, a black puffer may seem practical and enticing, but you'll be way better off having fun with a hot pink one. If you aren't a huge color person, branch out, why don't ya? And if you don't think it's a sustainable expenditure, lighten up and have some fun, party-pooper.
Carhartt Beanies:

Forgive me for being forward, but what have you Altar'd State girls done now? Carhartt is supposed to be a cool brand, one for the skaters and the outcasts. But, look what you've done instead. You've made Carhartt's beanies the subject of far too many Pinterest posts, practically dragging their brand through VSCO girl mud. Let's give it a rest.
UGGs:

I wish I could own all of the UGGs in the entire world. That was a bit of an exaggeration, but it's true. I love UGGs. I own the UGG slippers and the short UGGs that people hate on. Now, I am aware that UGGs aren't the best brand for animal welfare. And while that does bother me, I can't help but overlook it as I love them very much. This was me taking the scenic route in telling you that you need UGGs (or something of the sort).
Balaclava:

The balaclava is confusing to me. I won't sugarcoat this; a balaclava is kind of just a fancy name for a ski mask. It's like this fancy piece of wool meant to cover the entire face and head except for the eyes. Let me tell you, it's quite funky looking. I want to like it, I do, as it's all "avant-garde" and angsty, but I just can't decide. At first, I kind of thought that the balaclava only looked good on certain people, like you had to have the right head shape for it. But now, I'm not certain that it looks particularly good on anyone. I could be wrong, though, as I don't think that I will ever be 100% certain if I approve of it or not.
Tights:

You can't go wrong with tights. They always come through. I'm fond of the patterned sort, with polka dots, houndstooth, or floral design. Tights can even be colored, like brown or green or hot pink. They define an outfit in so many ways; classy or fun, intense or playful, sharp or clumsy. Tights are a love language for any outfit.
Leg Warmers:

Everything old is new again, now isn't it. But, hey, I don't mind it. Actually, I prefer the way they are being styled now over how they were in the 80s. Today, the indie community has claimed leg warmers, making them new and fashionable. I like how this looks much more than with neon one-shoulders and Keds. What the kids are doing now is styling leg warmers with sheer tights underneath, adding big black boots too. It's chic in an edgy, slightly emo way.
Moon Boots:

Moon Boots are also making a comeback from the 2000s era. I love it. These boots not only keep your feet nice and toasty; they add a super-laced, oversized, heavily-branded touch. Celebrities everywhere have been promoting these booties, wearing them in Instagram posts, and buying pairs from special collections. I like the tall ones, because, if you're going to go for it, go for it. Why not choose a crazy color too? Neon pink? Lime green? Electric orange?
Flannels:

I know I've talked about this before, so I'll keep it short. You can't go wrong with a good flannel. Especially a cool one like a patchwork flannel made up of many different flannels. Flannels are good for layering, overtop a henley, and underneath a puffer. Or, feel free to button the flannel up and pair it with wide legs jeans for a day out running errands.
This is my best attempt at sounding stylish. Did it work? I'm not sure. Regardless, I hope you enjoyed my personal opinion on snow styles, staying warm, and staying fashionable. Here's to more snow down south!
