Whenever planning to write a blog post, my mind instantly wanders to whatever I have been into recently. As I've continued writing, I've noticed a couple of things: For one, I really don't do anything anymore other than listen to music and read. And second, I find myself constantly re-watching themed episodes of some of my favorite shows. Because of these observations, I realized I might as well talk about it all. So, here's what has been on my mind as of recently.
First things first, let me get something off of my chest: Making Spotify playlists is addicting. The amount of poorly titled, only 1 hour long playlists I have is extremely ridiculous, as they are all adorned with the cheesiest picture covers. But it's like therapy. The instant anything inconvenient happens, I turn to the small black and green application on my phone. Don't you want a playlist for every occasion, mostly comprised of the same 12 songs? I know I do and I'm pretty sure a lot of other people do too. What I'm trying to say is that you should make playlists for the people you love (its's a great gift). And yes, this is indeed my attempt in getting my friends to make playlists for me :)))
Moving on, I've got one word for you: Twilight. Love it, hate it, we can't get away from it. I remember being in elementary school and being asked what team I was on: Team Jacob or Team Edward. To be honest, I thought that Twilight was dumb and instantly defaulted to team Jacob because I knew him as Shark Boy. About three or four years ago, I finally sat down and watched them. And I wasn't too impressed. Now, I have rediscovered the Twilight series. I won't lie, the movies are still hard to watch. With raging hormones, blue tinted film, and the palest vampires you have ever seen, the movies make for an almost unbearable 10 hour and 6 minute movie marathon. But the books on the other hand: REALLY good. (BTW: Team Edward all the way.) So, yeah, please read them.
Speaking of books, I really have rediscovered my long lost love of reading. Books used to be my best friends when I was younger, as I got most of my joy from characters and their plot lines. Since then, I've relapsed back into my reading addiction routine, flipping pages like I'm popping pills (Please believe me, I'm cool). But no really, I like reading again. And I've read some pretty good books this year including The Curious Incidents of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell, Twilight (obviously) by Stephenie Meyer, and currently To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. All of these books have changed me in some way and have truly made me think about things differently. At first, I thought it was the books I was reading that were making me philosophical. But really, I think that's just what reading does to you. And I like it. You should try it out.
Finally, let's talk about TV. I have always preferred re-watching comfort episodes of TV shows than starting something new. I think that it is comforting to know how something is going to end. Lately, I have been watching Valentine's Day themed episodes of some of my favorite shows. For example, S2E12 of Glee, "Silly Love Songs", is one of the best Valentine's Day episodes ever. Not only is it full to the brim with some of the best songs, but the cast does a great job showcasing the dynamics of all types of relationships on Valentine's. Another of the best themed episodes includes S1E13 of New Girl, entitled "Valentine's Day". This episode is not only hilarious, but shows off the one night stand culture that has taken over Valentine's. Last but certaintly not least, S2E16 of The Office, once again entitled "Valentine's Day", stands as an absolute Valentine's Day classic. I absolutely love this episode and it never fails to make me giggle. Of course, there are even more episodes like these out there, that simply always hit the mark of comfort and feel-good comedy. Go watch TV.
This has been my random talk regarding all of the things I have most been interested in lately. Overall, Spotify is the best, Twilight is a good book, reading isn't so bad, and Valentine's Day blues can be easily mended with themed episodes from your favorite TV shows. I Hope you have learned some valuable life lessons.
