2021 Fashion Predictions

I have a hinting suspicion that a lot of old trends will be back this year, making it a year to remember regarding fashion trends and the aesthetic lifestyle of everyday teens.

LONG SKIRTS:
Although we saw this trend slightly spike in 2020, I think that 2021 will be the year of nothing but long skirts. Summery, flowy, ankle length skirts will take the stage, paired with chunky sandals and cropped tank tops. In the winter, I predict long more tight fitted skirts, paired with solid colored turtlenecks and big black boots.

DENIM ON DENIM:
A blessing, a curse; Denim on Denim. One of the most hated looks, but also a beloved classic, the Canadian Tuxedo never fails to take the world by storm. This year, I'm picturing looser, baggy jeans on the bottom, with tight denim corsets and relaxed button ups on the top.

MONOCHROME:
One of my personal favorites, nothing quite makes a look suddenly elevated than an all monochromatic outfit. This year, I hope to see browns and beiges thrown together to make the perfect monochromatic uniform.

GREEN:
No not neon green. Moody greens, forest greens, pukey greens even. Wardrobes of greens, light and dark, are what I am dying most for this year. Just think Dakota Johnson's kitchen but make it fashion!

RUFFLES/STATEMENT SLEEVES:
Some people love them, some people hate them. But to be honest, I am completely obsessed with ruffles. Ruffly shirts paired with some well fitted jeans and some simple loafers or sandals are a dream come true for anyone looking to up their style game. I also think dresses with layers of ruffles will come back in style, with baby doll silhouettes and big projected sleeves.

FLANNELS:
Too often slept on, I am dying for flannel shirts to come back in style. Bring on the Taylor Swift, Jack Gyllenhaal, All Too Well, plaid-shirt days, because I am ready for it. Flannels pair great with everything, from jeans and dress shoes, to a mid length skirt and some chunky boots.

TRACK SUITS/SWEAT SUITS:
Since we will ultimately be spending even more time inside this year, there is nothing stopping track suits and sweat suits from coming back into style. In my personal opinion, I think that nothing quite elevates a lazy day look like a head-to-toe matching sweat suit. With so many sweat styles to choose from, including velour and crazy patterns, why not?!?
